Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about RiskPicks — AI research, pricing, brokerage sync, and privacy.

AI Research & Coach

Why pay for RiskPicks if I already have ChatGPT?

Three things raw AI chat does not do for a trader. Live prices and technicals are handed to our AI as the source of truth, so it is working from real numbers rather than whatever the web returned when it searched. Congressional trades and SEC insider filings are fed in line by line, and chat models cannot see them. The coach reads your actual trades and names the patterns specific to you. ChatGPT does not know you, does not have your numbers, and writes paragraphs instead of focused analysis.

Which AI models power RiskPicks?

Several. Claude, GPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Grok are all in rotation, picked for the job. Deep Research runs on Perplexity because that is what it does best, and if it ever falls back to a lighter model you are not charged the deep-research rate. Single-vendor outages do not kill your research.

What are Quick, SEC, and Deep Research?

Three depths for three jobs. Quick is fast web research on news and catalysts, under ten seconds. SEC pulls only from SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4), so every claim is grounded in a real filing. Deep Research runs a multi-step session with many searches and returns a comprehensive report in about two minutes. Pick the depth that matches how much context you want.

Why token-based pricing instead of per-lookup?

Each AI lookup costs us real money in backend processing, and tokens let us pass that cost through transparently instead of hiding it in a flat fee. A Quick lookup spends a little. Deep Research spends more because it runs many searches. If a backend fails over to another model, we bill you the depth we actually delivered, not the one you ordered. AI research is always optional and does not replace your own due diligence.

Do you use prediction market data?

Yes. Our AI Market Briefings and Deep Research both pull live odds from Polymarket, the public prediction market. Market Briefings see the most-liquid macro contracts (Fed rate decisions, recession odds, geopolitical ceasefire markets, election outcomes, Bitcoin price targets, commodity markets). Per-ticker Deep Research sees sector-relevant markets: an energy name gets oil and Middle East odds, a bank gets Fed and rate-path odds, a semi gets China and Taiwan odds. These are crowd-priced probabilities, not predictions. The AI weights them as one input among many.

Does RiskPicks give buy and sell signals?

No. RiskPicks does not give financial advice and does not generate buy or sell signals. The AI returns a conditions assessment that means the conditions may be worth a closer look, or may not. You make every trading decision yourself.

Getting Started

Do I need an account to use the calculator?

No, the calculator works without an account. Creating a free account unlocks a 5-day trial of all premium features including the trade journal, performance analytics, brokerage sync, and an ad-free experience.

Billing & Subscription

What happens when my free trial ends?

Your account stays active and you keep access to the calculator with ads. Premium features (journal, analytics, broker sync, AI coach) require a subscription. Any trades you saved during the trial are preserved and they will be there when you subscribe.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel with one click from Settings at any time, or by emailing support@riskpicks.com. No fees, no questions. You keep premium access through the end of your billing period. Your data is never deleted unless you explicitly request it.

Is the yearly plan worth it?

The yearly plan saves between 17 and 35 percent compared to paying month to month, depending on tier. Both plans include the same features. It comes down to whether you prefer flexibility or savings.

Brokerage Connection

Can RiskPicks place trades or move money in my account?

No. The brokerage connection is strictly read-only. RiskPicks can view your trade history to import it into your journal, but it can never place orders, transfer funds, or modify your brokerage account in any way.

How does the brokerage connection work?

RiskPicks uses SnapTrade as a secure intermediary, so your brokerage credentials are never shared with us. SnapTrade supports many major brokerages including Schwab, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, Webull, Robinhood, and E*TRADE. You can disconnect at any time from Settings.

Why are some of my broker trades missing?

RiskPicks syncs completed trades hourly. Pending or canceled orders will not appear. If a trade is still missing after a few hours, try disconnecting and reconnecting your broker in Settings. Partial fills and complex multi-leg options may also be excluded.

Privacy & Security

What data does the AI coach see about me?

Only anonymous trade data: tickers, entry and exit prices, position sizes, P&L, timestamps, self-ratings, and notes you have added. The AI also sees whether you hit your daily goal, stop loss, or landed in between, but never the actual dollar amounts. No personal information (name, email, bankroll, brokerage credentials) is ever sent to the AI provider.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and sensitive fields like brokerage tokens are encrypted at rest using Fernet symmetric encryption. Backups are encrypted before being stored offsite.

Does RiskPicks sell my data?

No. Your personal data (email, username, trade history) is never sold to third parties. Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies for ad personalization (you can opt out in your cookie preferences). Anonymous trade data sent to AI providers for analysis is governed by each provider's privacy policy. We may share anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot identify any individual user.

Do you support two-factor authentication?

Yes. Enable TOTP-based 2FA in Settings using any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.). Recovery codes are provided in case you lose access to your device.

General

Does RiskPicks provide financial advice?

No. RiskPicks is an informational and educational tool. It provides calculations, market data, and pattern analysis to support your own decision-making. Always do your own research and consult a qualified financial professional.

Where does the market data come from?

Real-time quotes and indicators are sourced from financial data providers. Data may be delayed up to a few seconds depending on the source. RiskPicks is not a data feed, so always confirm prices with your broker before executing trades.

Can I use RiskPicks on my phone?

RiskPicks is fully responsive and works in any mobile browser. There is no native app yet, but you can add it to your home screen for an app-like experience.

How do I delete my account and data?

Go to Settings and select Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, trades, images, and all associated data. Brokerage connections are also revoked. This action cannot be undone.
